Altria Pendragon is a Servant from the Nasuverse. This figure presents the Lily version, first seen in Fate/unlimited codes, then in Fate/Grand Order where she can be summoned in the Friend Point Gacha. Her name comes from her dress which seems like a flower. Here, she is in her Stage 2, which takes out her armor from the Stage 1. This prize figure is made by Sega. The scale is roughly 1/7.
Keep in mind that the grading system is based on Illya Saber. Therefore, it is expected that a prize figure will perform badly.
Sadly, the base is a clear plastic disk, as expected for a prize figure. It is not necessarily a bad point but it is a shame that the logo FGO is that big! I know she comes from this game but no, I do not want to display it! The text is blue, a color not worn by Altria (except for her sword) so it is very visible. Frankly, it ruins the base for me. I cannot expect a full textured base found with some scale figures but I want a discreet base instead.
So, I can only give 1/10 for the base.
Altria is standing on her high heels. She is very straight, like she is dancing. Well, that is if we forget her sword. But a knight never goes out without her weapon, I guess. She takes up a lot of space because of her weapon. I do not think it was necessary to make her extend her arm like that. Depending on the background, it can be hidden because it is only a straight line when viewed from the front. It would have been better to turn it a little in order to show the dull side of the blade instead.
Her dress seems to float because of her movements. It gives a rather dynamic feeling. For a prize figure, I did not expect that. I am pleasantly surprised. Two layers of cloth are present like in the original illustration. By the way, it is faithfully reproduced, at least for the pose.
Her hair is nicely designed. Several strands are tied by a black ribbon and the iconic ahoge worn by all the Saberface is here!
Interesting dancing pose but this figure is too wide. It is not a scale figure with a complex base! So a 7/10.
We can resume Altria Lily using two colors: white and black! In reality, two white a used: one off-white and one purer. But the fact remains that there is no shading. So her dress looks plain. It symbolizes her purity and innocence before she becomes the King of England. At this moment, she is in training and visits her kingdom. Fortunately, the black lines make a good contrast.
Her eyes are much more basic than those of scale figures but I find them really detailed. Several shades of green are used. Eyes are a really important part of a figure and failing them can ruin a figure. Sega knows that and delivers a good work for this particular point. But her skin has no shading and no blush. Her lips are simply sculpted and that is all. The absence of shading gives a very cold impression. Altria Lily should be very joyous, not overly serious. We can imagine she is training her dancing skills so she must focus on her movements a lot.
When we look at the other side of the head, we can notice the very small (and only) shading of the figure. It is right, the hair tips are lightly orange. But the rest is very pale. The yellow is not good.
Now, Caliburn! I love swords, it is my favorite type of weapon. Caliburn is the sword that Artoria freed from the stone. It is not Excalibur, which is wielded by the “classic Saber”. The Golden Sword of the Victorious (Caliburn) is richly decorated, it symbolizes the King of England. In Fate, the orange part is gold when the sword is not creating heat from magic given by its user. Therefore, we can imagine that Artoria Lily is currently in the middle of a battle!? It is strange because she seems like she is dancing instead.
The painting is too plain, so I give 4/10.
Now, let’s see why Saber Lily by Sega is a prize figure. Well, it is not hard to understand with one quick look. There are a lot of paint defects. And it is very visible in the white areas. In the following picture, her left sleeve is really dotted. Moreover, we can easily see a lot of seams on her arms and legs. The plastic used is cheap and flexible. I think her arms look strange. They seem to bend in an unnatural position. It is clear that the white sleeves are used to connect two arm parts.
Her feet and legs have a lot of defects, especially missing plastic. Combined with the pure white paint, it is really visible.
Honestly, I am quite impressed by the quality of Caliburn blue and gold part reproduction. The paint is clearly applied, it does not seem to have errors. I could have imagined this piece coming from a scale figure.
3/10 thanks to Caliburn!
After reading the previous section you might think Altria Lily by Sega is a bad figure. But let us not forget she costs one tenth of the price of some (expensive) 1/7 scale figures. I paid €34.99. The quality is bad, the QC seems nonexistent but it is normal for this price.
A very good price-quality ratio equals a very good grade! 10/10
For this price, I must say this is a good figure for someone who knows what a prize figure is. Not expensive but not amazing, she can be used in a big Fate display or pushed to the background for example.
The very reasonable price saves Altria Lily who earns a total of 5/10.
